What is Run AI Research?
Research any nonprofit on demand. One click gathers verified links, impact data, AI summaries, and recent updates — sourced directly from the organization's own published materials.
What is Run AI Research?
Run AI Research lets you kick off an AI research agent on any nonprofit profile — so you can get a complete, sourced picture of an organization without leaving Giving Compass and choose which documents you want to read in detail.
When you click the button, the agent visits the nonprofit's website and its latest annual report, collects information, and returns the results to the nonprofit's profile within minutes.
You can start a research run from the Run AI Research button on any nonprofit's profile page, or review your research history at givingcompass.org/agent-runs.
What the agent collects
A single research run gathers:
- Verified website and donation page links — confirmed with information the nonprofit publishes publicly
- Latest impact report — the most recent annual or impact report the agent can find
- AI-generated summary — an overview of the organization's mission, programs, and key achievements
- Impact metrics — quantified outcomes extracted from the report, each with a source snippet for verification
- Impact stories — transformation narratives drawn from the report, with links back to the original document
- Recent events, job postings, and volunteer opportunities — pulled from the nonprofit's content feed
How long does a research run take?
Most runs are completed in 2–5 minutes. Larger nonprofits with complex or image-heavy annual reports may take longer. You don't need to stay on the page. The agent runs in the background, and you can return to the nonprofit's profile or visit /agent-runs to see results when it's done.
What you might see when a run is complete
When research finishes, you'll see a list of what the agent collected. From there you can:
- View the AI summary on the nonprofit's Impact tab
- Explore extracted metrics and stories in Impact Explorer
- Review your full research history at /agent-runs
Occasionally, a run will complete without new findings. Here's what those outcomes mean:
- No Changes — The agent ran fully but everything it found matched existing data. The profile is already current.
- No Website — The agent couldn't find a verifiable web presence. This is common for very small or inactive organizations.
- Skipped (Fresh) — This nonprofit was researched recently enough that re-running wouldn't produce new data.
A note on accuracy
Every URL the agent verifies goes through a consensus check — two independent results must agree before a link is trusted. Every metric includes a verbatim source snippet from the original report. Every story links back to the document it came from. If something ever looks incorrect, each finding includes the source where it was discovered. You can contact support to flag data that needs correction.
Pro access and monthly quota
Run AI Research is available exclusively to Giving Compass Pro subscribers. Pro users can run up to 15 research runs per month. Your usage and reset date are visible on the /agent-runs page.
If you reach your monthly limit, your quota resets on the 1st of each month. If you need higher limits, contact us at support@givingcompass.org.
A given nonprofit can only have one active research run at a time across the platform. If research is already in progress when you click the button — started by another user or a scheduled refresh — you'll be able to see the results when it finishes and run your own afterward if needed.
